Lady in the water

What a wonderful way to start the week! There's nothing I love more than discovering artists that are new to me. These illustrations are by Leah Reena Goren. Seriously, click on her name, then keep refreshing. Her knack for pattern and color should be immediately apparent. And again, I'm having paint envy, because these watercolors are gorgeous, and painting has never been a strength of mine. Let's leave that to the pros, yeah? Also check out her blog as well as the projects section of her site: major pattern love in there.

Golden rocks to throw

A little traveling music, or for when you wish you were someplace else. Again, have a great weekend. This is Beirut's "Postcards From Italy."

Does it tickle?

I discovered Tilman Faelker while browsing through Design for Mankind one day, and am seriously in love. I'm all about quirk, so this was right up my alley. Also loving the muted hues in the illustrations. More work from Tilman here, and also check out the sketch blog for some amazing doodles.

Such great heights

Nothing like a little Earth scenery to inspire some color palettes. These aerial photographs are by Stephane Suisse, and were taken on a flight from Paris to Beijing in 2009. So dreamy...

Kind of in love with...

If Confetti System has the monopoly on sparkly piƱatas and fringe streamers, then Pom Pom Factory's got the uber-fluffy pompom thing down. Just check out all this delightful decor. There's really nothing like a puff of fabric and paper hovering overhead to give your event or photo shoot a playful feel. And yes folks, there is a shop.

Good hair day

Currently loving the "perfectly disheveled" look. Especially because my semi-pixie from last year took forever to grow out, and now that it's here, I'm embracing it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to cut it, but lately I really don't feel like putting any effort into styling (I know, I know) past a messy bun. This from a girl who straightened the hell out of her hair everyday for years. (Images via Cut by Fred)

BUT WAIT! There's more! Say you don't want a messy bun. What about a classic, totally put together chignon? Well here's a tutorial (again, from Cut by Fred) showing how to make a perfect chignon. I was seriously impressed by the little donut tool he uses in his video. Am I the only one who hasn't heard of/seen this thing? Because I've been making that loop-tunnel-thingy around the bun out of air all this time. I had no idea you could use a "donut". Watch the vid below to see what I'm talking about. It's in French, but you don't really need words because he demonstrates it.
